Staples Partners with LinkedIn, Ford’s Record China Sales: Consumer Biz Wrap

Staples (NASDAQ:SPLS) is collaborating with LinkedIn (NYSE:LNKD), to launch SUCCEED: Small Business Network, which is an online forum that will serve as a platform for networking, advice and content specifically aimed at small business professionals, according to a Wednesday release. The former is the biggest office product company in the world, and the latter is the worlds largest professional network; In SUCCEED, the companies are creating an online community that allows small businesses to connect and collaborate.

In November, Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F), with its joint ventures in China, sold a record 67,505 vehicles there, a figure up by 56 percent year-over-year from 2011, due to strong demand for the Ford Focus. Sales of passenger cars that were built at Changan Ford Automobile , which is a 50-50 joint venture between Ford and Chongqing Changan Automobile Co. , jumped by 71 percent to 50,423 units in the same month, compared to 2011.

The United Kingdom’s supermarket major Tesco (TSCDF.PK)(TSCDY.PK), said on Wednesday that it would probably leave the United States following a review of its Fresh & Easy food stores, which are unprofitable despite five years of investment. The firm is mulling different options for the division and revealed that it had in recent months been approached by a number of parties to acquire all or portions of Fresh & Easy.
