Starbucks Earnings Estimate Consensus at $.49 EPS
Starbucks Corp. (NASDAQ:SBUX) is expected to report Q1 earnings after the market close on Thursday, January 26 with a conference call scheduled for 5:00 pm ET. Analysts are looking for a profit of 49c on revenue of $3.29B. The consensus range is 46c-52c for EPS, and revenue of $3.15B-$3.41B, according to First Call.
In November, Starbucks (NASDAQ:SBUX) guided FY12 EPS $1.75-$1.82 vs. consensus $1.83 on revenue growth of approximately 10% vs. consensus $13.01B. The company also forecast mid-single digit SSS growth, 800 net new store openings and strong growth in the CPG business. Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz noted that commodity costs remained “stubbornly high” and saw 5% EPS growth in 1H12 and 25% growth in 2H.
The company said K-Cups would likely contribute 3c-5c to FY12 EPS. Earlier this month, Starbucks (NASDAQ:SBUX) implemented a realignment of its organization structure, with the retail businesses split into Americas, China and Asia Pacific, and EMEA, and forecast 2012 margin in Asia region around 30%. The coffee retailer also announced plans to bring wine, beer and premium food offerings to a handful of locations in Atlanta and Southern California by the end of this year.
These stores, along with several others recently announced for the Chicago area, will be the first extensions of the evening day-part concept outside of the Pacific Northwest. Starbucks (NASDAQ:SBUX) recently raised prices by an average of 1% in the Northeast and Sunbelt regions to offset high prices for coffee, milk and fuel. Janney Capital said checks indicate Starbucks’ (NASDAQ:SBUX) recent Q1 momentum is running above its +4% estimate and notes K-Cups could exceed expectations.
