Coffee chain giant Starbucks (NASDAQ:SBUX) has reaffirmed its commitment to expanding its operations in Asia, with 100 stores slated for Indonesia and another 100 to be build in the Philippines over the next four years. Company chief Howard Schultz swore to investing in the region, following a trip where he met with Starbucks partners, employees, and customers alike. Starbucks entered Southeast Asia in 1996 in Singapore, and now operates more than 700 stores across six countries, including Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam, Business Wire reported. The company has been sourcing its arabica coffee from the region since 1971.
