Strong Sales Predicted for Nokia’s Windows Phones

2012 may be a strong year for Nokia’s (NYSE:NOK) Windows phones sales, according to research by AllThingsD’s John Paczkowski. Paczkowski says the company has a respectable variety of phones on the market, including Nokia’s newly announced LTE device, the Lumia 900. Analysts predict that strong promotions by Microsoft will lead to market share gains in the new year.

Paczkowski cites Morgan Stanley’s prediction that Nokia’s Windows phones shipments will hit 37 million in 2012 and 64 million in 2013.  If you add the Windows Phone headsets, the 2012 shipment prediction rises to 43 million and 74 million the next year.  That doesn’t even account for other phone models such as Samsung.

The expected progress of the Windows (NASDAQ:MSFT) phone is really something to brag about given their stiff Android (NASDAQ:GOOG) and iPhone (NASDAQ:AAPL) competition. AllThingsD quoted Nokia CEO Steve Ballmer, who said, “We’ve got a lot of room to go in selling Windows Phones. But I feel very much like the work we’re doing is really going to pay off.”
