The Baltic Dry Index Gets a Smack on Economic Concerns

Woes continued for marine transporters on Thursday. The Baltic Dry Index was down 16 points or 1.157% to settle at 1,367.

1) ATC Cargo SA was awarded a forwarding services operation contract by Imperial Tabacco Polska SA. The contract is for import of goods and services with estimated yearly revenue of PLN 7-8 million.

2) The Shipping Corporation of India Ltd. ordered a new building cellular container ship from M/s. Rongsheng Shenfei Shipbuilding Co. Ltd. China. The ships capacity is 3,500 twenty-foot equivalent units.

3) Rand Logistics, Inc. (NASDAQ:RLOG) entered into the agreement to buy Maritime Trader through Lower Lakes Towing Ltd. (a subsidiary of Rand). Maritime Trader is Canadian flagged dry bulk carrier.
