The Baltic Dry Index Retakes 1900

The Baltic Dry Index rose 1.911% or 36 points to settle at 1,920. The BDI recovered both 1800 and 1900 rather quickly.

1) Maersk Oil Norway in conjunction with Lundin Petroleum AB and Statoil Petroleum confirmed the finding of an oil bearing reservoir in the Avaldsnes field. The field is located in continental shelf of Norway. A semi submersible drilling rig was used during the discovery.

2) Hanjin Shipping Company Limited will dispose of its shares in Hanjin Energy Company Ltd. on October 27. The price for the 6,000 shares currently held is KRW 159.8 billion.

3) Wan Hai Lines Ltd transfered 14 ships to Wan Hai Lines (NYSE:S) Pte Limited, its subsidiary, at around $640 million.
