Consumer Reports highlighted the drastic differences in prices for the same medication between CVS and Costco. It was discovered that a customer was paying $150 for a Lipitor prescription at CVS and only $17 at Costco. It may be worth switching pharmacies for those low prices.
Pharmacy is one of Costco’s top-performing categories, according to the company’s Q2 2018 earnings call.

Just like Costco’s pharmacy, the company’s optical department is also available to non-members. For anyone in need of vision care, this is one of the best-performing departments, and it’s for good reason. One reporter claimed that the sole reason she footed the $60 annual membership fee was for the optical care. Not only are the optometrists highly-trained and extremely knowledgeable, the out-of-pocket cost for uninsured patients is far less than rivaling optometry centers. Optical was another top-performing category for the chain, according to its Q2 2018 earnings call.
