These Retailers are Emerging as Winners on Black Friday

Crowds of shoppers lured by big price mark-downs gathered for early Black Friday openings at stores such as Macy’s (NYSE:M) Herald Square outlet, where approximately 9,000 people waited outside for doors to open at midnight. Best Buy’s (NYSE:BBY) bargains included a $500 Sharp TV for $200 and a $400 Lenovo laptop for $179 which also attracted lines of early shoppers.

According to Piper Jaffray, teen clothing retailers Abercrombie & Fitch (NYSE:ANF) and American Eagle Outfitters (NYSE:AEO) are poised to see big Black Friday profits with as many as 1000 shoppers waiting at stores for doors to open.

Also on the clothing retailer (NYSEARCA:XRT) front, Express (NYSE:EXPR), Nordstrom’s (NYSE:JWN), and Urban Outfitters (NASDAQ:URBN) may lead the pack in Black Friday sales, reports Piper. The firm observed that “outsized traffic and conversion” at the 3 stores may lead to “more meaningful market share gains” in December.
