The National Transportation Safety Administration, or NTSB, has concluded its probes into Jeep (FIATY) Grand Cheroke, Ford Freestar, and Mercury Monterey without issuing recalls. According to the NTSB, the vehicle issues do not pose serious concerns to safety, according to the Detroit News.

Dan Akerson, the company’s CEO, has various goals for the company, including seeing Cadillac become a global brand, according to the Wall Street Journal. He said the he also “would like to see Opel cut its losses this year by anywhere from one-third to one-half. I would like to see Chevrolet become a true global brand. It is number four in the world today. I would like to get to investment-grade rating this year. I would like to purchase the remaining shares, or have the government exit in one form or another. It is pretty ambitious for ’13 going into ’14.”

Toyota Motor Corporation (NYSE:TM): Current Price: $95.60
The company has begun the development of autonomous safety technologies to create a virtual “co-pilot” in vehicles assisting drivers in avoiding accidents instead of the self- driving cars and trucks. The carmaker revealed the research that it has been doing in Japan with a modified Lexus LS sedan that is fitted with advanced safety equipment at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas yesterday. The car that is on display this week in Las Vegas features sensors and automated systems to observe, process, and respond to its surroundings.
Honda Motor Co., Ltd. (NYSE:HMC): Current Price: $37.32
There is an upcoming Honda Accord hybrid (in Japan) that is able to reach 68 MPG (or 3.4 l/100km) via the use of a two-motor hybrid drive system. The hybrid is not the Honda Accord Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV), but that PHEV is to have the ability to also take advantage of this new two-motor propulsion system.

In November, Tesla was able to win a partial victory in Massachusetts in a judges denial of a request from the Massachusetts State Automobile Dealers Association to shut down Tesla’s showroom in Natick. As the Massachusetts case continued, Norfolk County Superior Court Judge Kenneth Fishman threw out the entire lawsuit brought against Tesla by the Association.
