Traders are Watching These Stocks Ahead of Earnings Reports

Emerson Electric Co. (NYSE:EMR) will unveil its latest earnings on Tuesday, February 7, 2012. The average estimate of analysts is for profit of 50 cents per share, a decline of 20.6% from the company’s actual earnings for the same quarter a year ago. During the past three months, the average estimate has moved down from 69 cents. Between one and three months ago, the average estimate moved down. It also has dropped from 54 cents during the last month. For the year, analysts are projecting net income of $3.51 per share, a rise of 8.3% from last year.

The company topped forecasts last quarter after being in line with estimates the quarter prior. In the fourth quarter of the last fiscal year, it reported profit of 98 cents per share versus a mean estimate of 97 cents. Two quarters ago, it reported net income of 90 cents per share. Analysts are projecting a decline of 4.5% in revenue from the year-earlier quarter to $5.29 billion.

During the past three months, the average estimate has moved down from 36 cents. Between one and three months ago, the average estimate moved down. It has been unchanged at 35 cents during the last month. For the year, analysts are projecting profit of $1.48 per share, a rise of 19.4% from last year.

The company has beaten estimates the last four quarters and is coming off a quarter where it topped forecasts by 2 cents, reporting net income of 42 cents per share against a mean estimate of profit of 40 cents per share. Analysts are projecting a rise of 12.2% in revenue from the year-earlier quarter to $377.1 million.
