tw telecom inc. (NASDAQ:TWTC) reported its results for the fourth quarter. Tw telecom is a national provider of managed network services. It specializes in Ethernet and data networking, Internet access, local and long distance voice, VPN, VoIP and network security services.

Results: Net income for tw telecom inc. fell to $16.4 million (11 cents per share) vs. $17.5 million (11 cents per share) a year earlier. This is a decline of 6.3% from the year earlier quarter.

Revenue: Rose 8.2% to $351.5 million from the year earlier quarter.

Actual vs. Wall St. Expectations: tw telecom inc. fell in line with the mean analyst estimate of 11 cents per share. Analysts were expecting revenue of $349.9 million.

Quoting Management: “We delivered another strong annual performance, as we significantly expanded our revenue growth rate, maintained an impressive Modified EBITDA margin and produced continued strong cash flow,” said Larissa Herda, tw telecom’s Chairman, CEO and President. “At the same time we strategically invested in the business to advance our network capabilities, deliver new product features and reach more customer locations.”

Key Stats:

The company has now fallen in step with estimates for the last three quarters. It reported net income of 10 cents in the third quarter, net income of 9 cents in the second quarter and net income of 8 cents in the first quarter.

Revenue has risen the past four quarters. Revenue increased 7.5% to $344.5 million in the third quarter. The figure rose 6.8% in the second quarter from the year earlier and climbed 6.9% in the first quarter from the year-ago quarter.

Looking Forward: The average estimate for the first quarter of the next fiscal year remains unchanged at 12 cents a share. The average estimate for the fiscal year has remained at 38 cents per share.
