AT&T has had plans to mount dozens of antennas on utility poles throughout Palo Alto, California and on Monday night, the city approved the final two phases of the project although main residents living near the proposed antenna sites voiced complaints.

Sprint Nextel Corp. (NYSE:S): Current Price: $5.61

According to MVNO Ting, it has intentions to add Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) Windows Phone 8 smartphones to its lineup later in the year after Sprint’s decision to embrace of the platform. MVNO didn’t reveal which devices it hopes to launch, but it did note that Sprint has been committed to bringing devices to market from HTC and Samsung.

Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE:VZ): Current Price: $43.36

Some people are suspicious of public Wi-Fi and Verizon will now entice subscribers with its new Jetpack mobile hotspot. The device has been named Jetpack 4G LTE Mobile Hotspot MiFi 510L and it is made by Novatel. The device will ship on January 31 for $19.99 and it continues the Verizon’s line of portable 4G sharing products. The hockey puck shaped 510L has the potential to spread its 4G LTE data connection to as many as 10 mobile devices, like smartphones, tablets, and laptops, via wireless Wi-Fi connection.

Vodafone Group plc (NASDAQ:VOD): Current Price: $27.30

On Tuesday, Vodafone Group PLC stated that on January 28, it purchased 4.5 million of its ordinary shares on the London Stock Exchange from Barclays Capital Securities Ltd. at 171.6122 pence, which it will continue to hold in treasury.

According to UAE’s telecom company Du, it has entered into a partnership agreement with Alcatel-Lucent under which it is to deploy the most recent in IP-routing technology as a means to achieve convergence in its telecom services.
