Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile Get Some Mobile Payment Love
The impending Isis mobile payment system received a boost of support from smartphone manufacturers on Tuesday. HTC, LG (NYSE:LPL), Motorola (NYSE:MMI), Research in Motion (NASDAQ:RIMM), Samsung, and Sony Ericsson (NYSE:SNE)(NASDAQ:ERIC) all threw in their hats and have promised to use the standard in either their current or future NFC-equipped phones.
Isis, which is a joint venture between Verizon (NYSE:VZ), AT&T (NYSE:T) and T-Mobile, hasn’t set a date for the system’s deployment as it will depend on the individual phones NFC readiness. The initial Isis 2012 rollout will begin in Austin.
