Ultratech (NASDAQ:UTEK): Closing price $40.74

The firm says in its earnings call that its first quarter gross margin might be “slightly below” that of the fourth quarter. Shares closed up 3.88 percent on the day at $40.74, having been traded in a 52-week range of $25.07 to $39.99.


Viacom (NYSE:VIA): Closing price $62.18

Viacom Reports its first quarter Worldwide Theatrical revenue was down by 42 percent to $328 million, and that Television License fees for the same period were down by 24 percent to $227 million. Shares closed up 1.61 percent on the day at $62.18, and have been traded in a 52-week range of $47.02 to $62.78.


Whirlpool Corp. (NYSE:WHR): Closing price $115.38

Whirlpool says that its  full-year 2013 industry unit shipments will likely be flat in Europe, Middle East, and in Africa. The firm believes that full-year 2013 industry division shipments should increase by between 3 and 5 percent in Asia. Shares closed up 6.13 percent on the day at $115.38, having been traded in a 52-week range of $54.08 to $111.58.


Gilead Sciences (NASDAQ:GILD): Closing price $2.93

YM BioSciences (AMEX:YMI) reported that its shareholders okayed the previously announced plan of arrangement involving the firm, Gilead Sciences, and 3268218 Nova Scotia Limited, which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Gilead. Through the terms, the buyer will purchase all of the issued and outstanding common shares of the company for cash consideration of $2.95 per share. Also, holders of warrants and options will each receive a cash payment equal to the difference between $2.95 and the exercise price of such warrants or options. The deal was approved by 98.72% of the YM Shareholders, representing 99.03% of the votes cast by YM Shareholders represented in person or by proxy at the meeting. The hearing for the final court order to okay the arrangement is set February 5th. The arrangement will be completed on or about February 8th. Shares closed unchanged on the day at $2.93, and have have traded in a 52-week range of $1.45 to $2.93.
