Wendy’s on Tuesday reported the sale of 30 restaurants in the St. Louis, Missouri, market to BB St. Louis LLC, a partnership led by current Wendy’s franchisee and former NBA star Junior Bridgeman and current NBA player Chauncey Billups. The deal includes 29 existing restaurants and one restaurant currently being built. Counting this transaction, Bridgeman — who is Wendy’s No. 2 franchisee — has total or partial ownership of 196 Wendy’s restaurants, with Billups making his first foray into the restaurant industry.
Intel Corp. (NASDAQ:INTC): Current price $22.52
Intel has debuted an education-focused tablet reference design sporting an Intel Atom chip and an Android operating system code-named Ice Cream Sandwich. The Intel Education tablet was designed specifically for education, the company said in a press release, and it features student-friendly designs. Features include a stylus, front- and rear-facing cameras, integrated speakers, and microphones. The device is equipped with Intel Education Software, which is a suite of applications that feature an e-reader, science exploration and data analysis application, and painting tools.
Nokia Corp. (NYSE:NOK): Current price $4.16
Analyst Owen Fenton at Fitch Ratings reiterated on Tuesday a BB- rating on Nokia‘s “issuer default rating,” as well as a Negative outlook based on a positive view of the firm having bought partner Siemens’s interest from its equipment joint venture but lingering fears about the handset business. Fenton said the firm has done better on a fundamental basis than had been expected during the past year because of the network equipment business, but says the Lumia line of smartphones is still struggling.
