Will Alpha Natural Resources’s Top Institutional Shareholders Sell More After the Downgrade?

For the year-to-date, Alpha Natural Resources, Inc.’s (NYSE:ANR) shares are down 72.54 percent. On Tuesday, the company’s stock was downgraded by Dahlman Rose analyst Daniel Scott.

He wrote of the decision, “We are downgrading the three names with the most metallurgical coal exposure: Peabody Energy (BTU), Alpha Natural Resources (NYSE:ANR), and Walter Energy (NYSE:WLT) to Hold from Buy. We do not think that the long-term met coal story is broken, but it will take the industry time to rebalance supply with demand. Lower met pricing during this balancing will deal sharp blows to the EBITDA of the three companies downgraded.”
