Will Google’s EU Investigation Put Off These Top Institutional Shareholders?

Instead of facing one European investigation into its privacy policy, Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) now faces at least six of them. Data protection agencies in Britain, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the Netherlands stated that they plan to take action against Google regarding the policy, which the company introduced last year, The New York Times reported. They joined the French regulator, which initiated a European Union inquiry on behalf of its counterparts spanning the 27-nation bloc. Although the regulators have repeatedly threatened the company with talk of a united front, the news shows that privacy laws are fragmented across the European Union, which doesn’t give Google much incentive to yield.
