Will Honda’s Job Cuts Worry These Top Institutional Shareholders?

Honda Motor Co. (NYSE:HMC) is likely to cut their workforce in England’s Swindon by 800 jobs due to falling sales of vehicles in Europe. The decision would more than reverse their hiring of 500 workers last year in expectations of rising demand which failed to materialize. On the contrary, Honda’s sales in Europe fell by around 1 million over the past one year. The job cuts are expected to take place in the second quarter of 2013.

Will Honda Motor Co.’s shareholders increase their holdings? They reported owning a total of 230,257 shares on 12/31/2012. The shares closed at $36.94 on 12/31/2012.
