Will the Largest Satellite Provider Dump Fox?

After asking for a 40% carriage increase from DirecTV (NASDAQ:DTV), Fox Networks (NASDAQ:NWS) are looking at a potential suspension from the U.S.’s largest satellite provider as of November 1.

The price increase would require DirecTV (NASDAQ:DTV) customers to pay more for the same Fox channels that they already receive, an increase DirecTV calls “simply unfair and unwarranted.” Meanwhile, Fox Networks (NASDAQ:NWSA) feel that the DirecTV was also unfair when they went public about the network’s potential suspension before giving them a chance to respond. Fox has proposed to keep their channels on the provider under the same price agreement while negotiations are being worked out.

According to DirecTV (NASDAQ:DTV), the channels will be suspended unless NewsCorp (NASDAQ:NWSA), owners of Fox Networks, are willing to “move toward a more reasonable price increase.”
