Will Walmart Win the Holiday Price Battle with This Sceme?
Wal-Mart (NYSE:WMT) has just announced an innovative gift scheme for the holiday season. Called the Christmas Price Guarantee, the policy assures the shopper that if the same product is available for less at another retailer, Wal-Mart (NYSE:WMT) will make up the difference with a gift card. The scheme will operate between November 1 and December 25.
“The greatest gift we can give our customers this holiday is great low prices on the things they want most,” explained Duncan Mac Naughton, chief merchandising officer, Wal-Mart (NYSE:WMT) U.S. “Wal-Mart (NYSE:WMT) is easing shopping stress this Christmas by allowing customers to shop when and how they want, all while guaranteeing low prices through the entire holiday season.”
Mac Naughton also said “we’re confident Wal-Mart (NYSE:WMT) will have fantastic prices on a wide assortment of gifts from electronics to toys, so customers can shop early and spend the holiday enjoying time with their families.”
WMT is trading at $56.75 today, down 0.33%. Shares are up 5.29% in one year. The stock’s trading range for the year is between $48.31 and $57.90.
