Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT): Symantec (NASDAQ:SYMC) reports that it will extend its Storage Foundation High Availability for Windows and Veritas Volume replicator disaster recovery software solution to the Windows Azure cloud platform. Specifically, the solution is intended to enable organizations of any magnitude to recover business critical applications and their associated data in Windows Azure, should a local failure or site disaster occur.

Pfizer Inc. (NYSE:PFE) has made a $25 million milestone payment to Protalix BioTherapeutics, as part of the firms’ global commercial agreement for ELELYSO, or taliglucerase alfa. The FDA’s approval of the drug for the treatment of type 1 Gaucher disease on May 1st, enabled the payment.
United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX), in an effort to win the approval of the European Commission for its proposed acquisition of Goodrich (NYSE:GR), is making concession to the agency, which includes the divestiture of assets, say sources to Reuters. The transaction would have a value of $16.5 billion, and the Commission has placed a deadline of August 31st on the resolution of the deal.
