Obagi’s board has received a letter from Merz Pharma Group which detailed its proposal to purchase all of the outstanding common stock of Obagi for $22 per share in cash. This offer represents a 58 percent premium to Obagi’s close on March 14, the last trading day prior to the disclosure on Obagi’s fourth quarter earnings call that the firm had engaged a financial advisor to help explore “all opportunities.” Merz believes that its current offer is superior to that of Valeant Pharmaceuticals International, which was tendered a few days before. Shares closed down 0.89 percent on Tuesday at $75.37, and have been traded in a 52-week range of $42.47 to $76.44.
Verizon Communication (NYSE:VZ): Closing price $49.50
Shares of Vodafone Group (NASDAQ:VOD) jumped as much as 4.3 percent in Tuesday London trading subsequent to a Financial Times blog reporting that AT&T (NYSE:T) and Verizon Communications might make an offer for the company, said Bloomberg. Shares closed up 0.57 percent on the day at $49.50, having been traded in a 52-week range of $36.80 to $49.59.
TJX Companies (NYSE:TJX): Closing price $47.37
The TJX Companies said that its board has increased the amount of its quarterly dividend by 26 percent from the last dividend paid, and declared a regular quarterly dividend of 14.5 cents per share, payable June 6, to shareholders of record on May 16. Shares closed up 1 percent on Tuesday at $47.37, and have been traded in a 52-week range of $38.56 to $47.37.
Yahoo! (NASDAQ:YHOO): Closing price $23.78
Yahoo’s Vice President, Engineering for Cloud Services, Elissa Murphy, is exiting the firm to become chief technical officer and chief of platform efforts at Go Daddy, according to AllThingsD. Shares closed up 1.19 percent on the day at $23.78, having been traded in a 52-week range of $14.59 to $23.88.
