Your Cheat Sheet to Earnings for January 19th
Markets traded down yesterday. Here is your Cheat Sheet to some high profile earnings:
1) EBay (NASDAQ:EBAY): The company earned $559.2 million (42 cents per share). Excluding one time items, EBay earned 52 cents per share. EBay benefited from holiday season shopping and its PayPal services. Analysts were expecting 47 cents per share (excluding one time items).
2) US Bancorp (NYSE:USB): Net income jumped 61% and earned nearly $1 billion in profit for the fourth quarter. Earnings per share were 49 cents, which beat estimates of 46 cents per share. Going forward, the bank hopes to increase its dividend by the end of the first quarter. The current dividend yield is under 1 percent.
3) Xlinx (NASDAQ:XLNX): Net income rose 42% in the most recent quarter. However, a less than expected revenue increase of 10% was a disappointment as shares traded down in after hour trading. Earnings of $152.3 million (58 cents per share) beat analysts estimates of 53 cents per share.
4) Seagate Technology (NASDAQ:STX): Shares are down over 5% in after hour trading as the company reported a decrease of net profit to $150 million (31 cents per share). In the prior year same quarter, STX reported a net profit of $533 million ($1.03 per share).
