Newest ‘RHOA’ Cast Member K. Michelle Reacts to Fan Criticism: ‘Doing My Job’
K. Michelle is stirring the pot, and she’s not afraid to admit it.
The Real Housewives of Atlanta newbie has divided fans of the long-running show. Since making her Bravo debut in season 17 earlier this year, the singer and Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta alum has brought the drama, dropping vague hints about alleged “plots” against her, storming out of dinners, and beefing both onscreen and online with her co-stars, particularly Drew Sidora and Porsha Williams.
Is it messy at times? Yes, and that’s exactly the point, she says.
K. Michelle makes ‘RHOA’ debut in season 17
“I went to sleep at 9pm yesterday after travel. I wake up every morning 2something new,” K. Michlle wrote in a June 9 post on X responded to a RHOA viewer who’d said she was living rent-free in the minds of fans.
“I can’t be nice (I’m back peddling) I can’t throw shade (I’m a mean girl),” she continued. “I can’t cry(I’m sensitive) I can’t be quiet(I’m boring or bigger than the program ) I can’t tell what was brought 2me(I’m lying) I can’t walk away from rage baiting(I’m scared) I can’t have friends(I’m on a team) I can’t talk(my accent fake) I can’t be rushed to the hospital(attention seeking) I can’t get married to who I want(she forced him) I tweet(not classy) I don’t tweet(why she quiet we ran her off).
“[I]n this world we live in. I guess it’s safe to say I’m doing my job,” she concluded.
“You just do entirely too much,” one person replied.
Fans debate whether ‘Love & Hip Hop’ alum is good fit for Bravo
Will K. Michelle become a permanent fixture on RHOA? It’s too early to say. For now, some fans are enjoying her presence, saying she brings a much-needed breath of fresh air to the franchise. Others have characterized her as “paranoid” and “traumatized” from her time on VH1’s Love & Hip Hop, which they argue means she comes into every interaction with the rest of the cast braced for an attack.
“I understand how stressful Love & Hip Hop can be and she probably thought she could handle this environment if she survived Love & Hip Hop,” one person wrote on Reddit. “But it’s like it’s obviously affecting her and has left her with so much unresolved trauma.”
The Real Housewives of Atlanta airs Sundays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Bravo. Episodes stream the next day on Peacock.
