‘This Is Poly’ Cast: Meet the Stars of We TV’s New Reality Series
There’s more than enough love to go around in We TV’s newest reality series.
This Is Poly explores the lives of real people living in modern polyamorous relationship. While outsiders might see polyamory as a kink of cover for cheating, those who embrace consensual non-monogamy say it’s a lifestyle that can work for the right people.
The eight-episode series – which premieres May 29 – focuses on on five different groups, all of which are taking a different approach to polyamory. Yet despite their differences, all are committed to the idea of building lives and families outside the norm of traditional monogamy. But the reality of polyamory can be challenging, as the members of these polycules face issues of jealousy, commitment, communication, and trust.
Kami, Trent, and Nita
Viewers met Kami and Trent in the season premiere of Love After Lockup, A married couple from Redding, California, they come from a very strict religious background. Their friends and family are unaware of their new lifestyle with their partner, Nita. As this throuple prepares for a commitment ceremony, they must decide how to tell their loved ones about their relationship – and how to deal with whatever reaction they received.
Marley and Bri
Marley and Bri are actively looking for a third to add to their polycule And after that, the Las Vegas pair hope to add a fourth, fifth and sixth. The couple is not new to polyamory – they were previously part of a larger polycule with Marley’s (not-so) ex-husband, to whom she’s technically still married. Marley’s attachment to her ex is causing issues for Bri, who must decide how long she can hang on, all while they look to date new women who might grow their polycule.
BQ and Tehmeena
BQ and Tehmeena, who are from Long Island, want to bring polyamory into their relationship. But BQ’s many past infidelities are making it hard for them to move forward. The pair began to explore the lifestyle as a way to curb BQ’s cheating. He insists he’s currently faithful to Tehmeena, but she has some serious doubts (not to mention receipts). While Tehmeena loves BQ, she still needs him to show some real commitment.
The Yahwehs
With 22 family members, the Yahwehs aren’t exactly a small family. Yahweh Poetic has four partners: Yahweh De’Bash, Yahweh Madi, Yahweh Krystal, and Yahweh Jazmin. The family has 17 kids in total, and there are even more babies on the way. But there’s trouble in this group. Yahweh Madi and Yahweh Krystal are still adjusting to their new lifestyle. Meanwhile, Yahweh Madi and Yahweh Poetic are struggling to conceive naturally, leading them to consider IVF. But when the family faces their biggest challenge yet, could it all be enough to send Yahweh Madi over the edge?
Becca, Jacob, and Davis
Becca, Jacob, and Davis own a tattoo shop together. But even though Jacob and Davis both love Becca, they are not friends. Jacob and Becca are married, but David recently proposed – a move he didn’t mention to Jacob in advance. As their polycule’s dynamic changes, potential issues arise, forcing them to consider how to manage both their relationships and their business.
This Is Poly premieres Friday, May 29 at 9:30 p.m. ET/PT, immediately following the season premiere of Love After Lockup at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
