Celebrating Oregon’s 7 Best Uniforms
This is a very exciting night for the college football community.
For years people have yearned for a playoff to determine the best team in the nation. And finally, that long wait will be over, as tonight the No. 2 Oregon Ducks take on the No. 4 Ohio State Buckeyes, in the first-ever College Football Playoff National Championship game.
While most are conflicted on the outcome of the game, one thing is for certain, these are the two best teams in the country right now. This game is going to be a battle. And hopefully, extremely entertaining as well. However, should the game not live up to the hype, at least one thing will not disappoint: the uniforms. Each team will be sporting brand new Nike gear, specifically designed for the title game. And they are flashy.
This is nothing new for the Oregon Ducks, who have set the standard for trendy uniforms over the years. So, in honor of this inaugural playoff championship, let’s celebrate Oregon’s seven best jerseys.
1. Stanford vs. Oregon (November 17, 2012)
The Ducks were the No. 1 team in the country, but they were upset at home by No. 14 Stanford, 17-14. Although they no longer had a perfect record, these uniforms are second to none.
2. Pacific Life Holiday Bowl — Oklahoma State vs. Oregon (December 30, 2008)
The Ducks wore these sweet uniforms back in ’08. The heavy green and black, along with the bold yellow, make these uniforms extremely stylish. They knocked off the Oklahoma State Cowboys, 42-31, on their way to taking home the Pacific Life Holiday Bowl Trophy.
3. Oregon vs. Oregon State (December 4, 2010)
By defeating their state state rivals, Oregon St., by a score of 37-20, the Ducks all but guaranteed a place in the BCS National Championship game. They would end up losing in that game, but these white and gray duds are definitely super cool. No green, no problem.
4. Arizona State vs. Oregon (November 14, 2009)
Conference games are always challenging. But, Oregon was able to dismantle the Arizona St. Sun Devils by a score of 44-21. It’s one thing to try and go into Eugene and defeat the Ducks at Autzen Stadium. But it’s a whole different story to attempt it when they’re rocking all black. Also, those helmets are amazing.
5. Oregon vs. Arizona (November 21, 2009)
These uniforms are super sharp. They clearly played a part in helping Oregon defeat the Wildcats of Arizona in this Pac-12 showdown. Not only was this a high scoring affair, but it took two overtimes to settle the score. The Ducks were the last team standing, and won 44-41.
6. Pac-12 Championship – Arizona vs. Oregon (December 5, 2014)
Oregon avenged its only loss of the year by destroying Arizona, 51-13, in the Pac-12 title game. Not only did this win give the Ducks a conference championship, but this victory at Levi’s Stadium all but guaranteed them a spot in the first-ever College Football Playoffs. These uniforms, where old-school meets modern, epitomize the Ducks style of playing fast, hard-nosed football.
7. Tostitos BCS National Championship Game – Oregon vs. Auburn (January 10, 2011)
The last time the Ducks played for a National Championship, these were the jerseys they sported. Notice the numbers on the undershirts, and the sleek helmets. Unfortunately, they lost the game 22-19 to a very talented Auburn team, led by Heisman Trophy winner, Cam Newton.
Perhaps this time will have a happier ending for the Oregon Ducks.
