NFL: Top 5 Value Players in Daily Fantasy Football for Week 10
Daily fantasy sports (DFS) have taken the country by storm. They have been in the spotlight most recently for negative reasons after New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman deemed the DFS contests offered by DraftKings and FanDuel, the two largest DFS companies in the world, to be illegal gambling and banned both from accepting wagers in the state of New York. Regardless of the ruling, the DFS industry has grown to be so large and so competitive that it seems like we can’t go more than five minutes without seeing (or hearing) an advertisement for DraftKings or FanDuel.
With the size of some leagues that are offered, and the amount of money that can be on the line, finding high-value players with low salary cap figures is the key to success in daily fantasy football. With that being said, here is a look at five players who we feel are high value options in DraftKings and FanDuel for Week 10.
1. Kyle Rudolph, tight end, Minnesota Vikings
DraftKings salary: $3,000
FanDuel salary: $4,700
Week 10 opponent: Oakland Raiders
Rudolph has been largely disappointing for fantasy owners in 2015. As a result, he is one of the more moderately priced tight ends in both DraftKings and FanDuel leagues. Normally we wouldn’t recommend picking him up, but due to his matchup, Rudolph is one of the best values available, regardless of position, in Week 10. He will be facing a Raiders defense that has allowed 44 receptions for 491 yards and nine touchdowns to opposing tight ends in 2015.
2. Kirk Cousins, quarterback, Washington Redskins
DraftKings salary: $5,200
FanDuel salary: $6,500
Week 10 opponent: New Orleans Saints
Cousins isn’t exactly a fantasy stud, but the 27-year-old quarterback does have a history of being productive games against subpar passing defenses. This week Cousins is one of the cheapest starting quarterbacks available in both DraftKings and FanDuel, and will be facing a Saints defense that is allowing a league-worst average of 23.7 fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks in standard scoring leagues in 2015. While we doubt Cousins will be the top performing quarterback in the league this week, we do see him scoring well over 20 points for the fantasy owners who take a risk on him.
3. Doug Martin, running back, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
DraftKings salary: $5,600
FanDuel salary: $6,700
Week 10 opponent: Dallas Cowboys
Martin has been a pleasant surprise for the Buccaneers in 2015, rushing for an average of 80.4 yards per game. This week he will be facing a Cowboys defense that is giving up an average of 22.3 fantasy points per game to opposing running backs in standard scoring leagues. Knowing this, his modest salaries in both DraftKings and FanDuel make him an excellent value in Week 10.
4. DeSean Jackson, wide receiver, Washington Redskins
DraftKings salary: $5,400
FanDuel salary: $6,000
Week 10 opponent: New Orleans Saints
Jackson is now close to 100% healthy, according to reports out of Redskins’ practice this week, and we believe that the explosive 28-year-old wide receiver is in line for a huge game this week. He will be facing a Saints defense that has been susceptible to the big play, which is Jackson’s specialty, all season. Daily fantasy players would be wise to capitalize on Jackson’s low salary this week, as we see the seven-year veteran going well over 100 receiving yards against the Saints.
5. Matt Cassell, quarterback, Dallas Cowboys
DraftKings salary: $5,000
FanDuel salary: $6,300
Week 10 opponent: Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Cassell’s window as the Cowboys starting quarterback may be rapidly closing as Tony Romo continues to inch closer toward making his return to the lineup, but that doesn’t matter in daily fantasy football. His strong matchup and relatively low salary in both DraftKings and FanDuel makes Cassell a very attractive option for players looking to spend minimally on the quarterback position and high elsewhere. Additionally, Cowboys’ All-Pro wide receiver Dez Bryant looks like he is close to full strength, which gives Cassell one of the best wide receivers in the league at his disposal.
