College football bowl season officially kicks off on Saturday when Nevada and Louisiana-Lafayette face off in the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl. One of the most exciting aspects of bowl games is that they offer some of the best matchups of the season between teams that wouldn’t normally play each other.

Multiple factors — including overall records, program history, geographical logistics, and fan base size — come into play when determining which bowl games college football fans are the most interested in watching. What about simply considering the amount of money fans are willing to pay to attend a specific game as a metric in determining interest?

Secondary ticket markets, also known as ticket resale markets, offer fans a chance to purchase tickets that have already been purchased by someone else from the primary ticket market (box office). As Jaclyn Lambert of TicketCity, a trusted secondary market ticket broker, pointed out, statistics on average ticket price and number of tickets sold are often very indicative of which games consumers (fans) are the most excited about.

TicketCity used its sales data to compile a ranking on the median ticket prices for every college football bowl game in 2014. The firm’s findings paint a pretty clear picture as to which bowl games college football fans are the most excited about, judging by the price they are willing to pay to attend each game.

Here’s a look at the top 15 matchups of the 2014 college football bowl season based on median ticket prices on the secondary ticket market. All ticket prices and data are courtesy of TicketCity.
