Consumer Business Review: Avon Chair Steps Down, Boeing & GE Reach Deal

Executive Chairman Andrea Jung of Avon Products (NYSE:AVP) will step down from the Board at the end of 2012. Fred Hassan, who currently serves as the lead independent director and managing director at Warburg Pincus, will take the position of non-executive Chairman on January 1st.

Yes, it’s still going on. Hertz Global Holdings (NYSE:HTZ) has extended its bid for Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group (NYSE:DTG) to October 22nd after only 24 percent of the firm’s shares were tendered. Hertz agreed to a $2.3 billion acquisition for Dollar Thrifty in August, which ended a long bidding war with Avis.

The Boeing Company (NYSE:BA) and General Electric Company’s (NYSE:GE) commercial aircraft leasing and financing wing, GE Capital Aviation Services, have completed a $6 billion deal for 85 737s, specifically, 75 737 MAX 8s and 10 Next-Gen 737-800s.
