Gamers, like everyone else, want access to information they’re not supposed to have. So let’s try to peek behind the curtain of the video game industry to see what goodies the powers that be aren’t ready to unveil. This week, we have rumors and leaks surrounding Batman: Arkham Knight, Destiny, and a highly anticipated PlayStation 4 update. Read on to see what exciting new stuff just might come to pass.
Batman: Arkham Knight is rated M for depicting torture
This leak comes from the Entertainment Software Ratings Board (ESRB), the panel in charge of game content ratings, like “E for Everyone,” “T for Teens,” and “M for Mature.” The upcoming Batman: Arkham Knight will be the first in the series to be rated M instead of T.
Why the mature rating? The reasons, according to the ESRB’s summary of the game, include numerous instances of torture. According to the report, “A vehicle’s wheels are used to torture an enemy in one sequence.” Then, “Cutscenes depict characters getting shot (on and off camera) while restrained or unarmed. Large bloodstains/pools of blood appear in crime scenes and in the aftermath of violent acts; one room depicts a person torturing a character on a bloody operating table.”
Sounds like some grim stuff that goes even further into the dark corners of Batman’s universe than previous games. Batman: Arkham Knight is scheduled to release on June 2 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC.
Upcoming Destiny content leaked
Any ship as big as Destiny is bound to spring a few leaks, but we seem to be getting more reliable unreleased information than usual for this game.
The latest seemingly legit leaks, posted to Reddit, detail the game’s upcoming “House of Wolves” expansion. It will apparently feature a “Reef social space” located on an asteroid belt, a new crucible playlist, a new strike, and two single-player missions on the moon. Check out the original post for more information, including screenshots.
These leaks come from the same Reddit user who posted earlier info about the “House of Wolves” expansion, prompting Bungie to respond by saying, “Aside from giving it a name, Bungie has yet to reveal the House of Wolves. That means that anything you know about it can change. We have a team working on the experience in their own fancy room, and they have some exciting surprises up their sleeves.”
Bungie has said that the “House of Wolves” expansion will arrive between April 1 and June 30.
Playing PS4 games might get a lot faster
Gamers have enjoyed the Xbox One’s suspend/resume function since launch, leaving many PlayStation 4 owners jealous. That means each time you turn on a PS4 console to play a game, you have to wait through a seemingly endless number of start-up screens, then wait for the game to load your last save. This can take several minutes.
When you turn on an Xbox One, however, it can immediately put you back in the game exactly where you left off, no load time required. That’s because the console suspends your game, keeping it held in the background, even when you power it down.
Thanks to a leaked screenshot posted to Twitter by a beta tester, the PS4’s upcoming 2.5 firmware update will include a similar suspend/resume function.
According to a previous rumor, the firmware update may occur on or around March 29.
Rock Band 4 officially announced
