Google’s Motorola Mobility has launched its new smartphone, Moto X, which the company expects to be available in the United States by the end of August. Moto X is the first smartphone designed by Motorola since it was bought by Google, and it’s powered by its Android operating system. Moto X will feature a 4.7-inch display, improved screen resolution, a camera created for rapid boot-up, and better battery life.

Zillow Inc. (NASDAQ:Z): Closing price $86.71

The real estate and home-related information marketplace on Friday said Kathleen Philips, who has served as general counsel since coming to the company in 2010, has been appointed chief operating officer. Philips played an instrumental part in the firm’s 2011 initial public offering and has taken on increasing responsibility beyond the legal department, the company said in a press release. She also manages Zillow’s mergers and acquisitions activities, including six acquisitions in fewer than two years.

Facebook Inc. (NASDAQ:FB): Closing price $38.05

The social network behemoth has come up with an update that lets Android users with Home-supported phones — a repertoire that now includes the HTC One, Samsung Galaxy S4, and Nexus 4 — view the stylish Cover Feed without using Home. Cover Feed supplants the standard smartphone lock screen with rotating photos from Facebook updates. Users may like or comment on photos in Cover Feed without having to open the Facebook app.
