Top 3 Wii U Exclusive Games Heading Our Way in 2016
For gamers, the most important difference between the Xbox One, Wii U, and PlayStation 4 is the games. Sure, they have differences in CPU and graphical power, but none of that matters unless it’s used to fuel awesome gaming experiences. To find out which game console is most worthy of your hard-earned money, we’re going to look at the exclusive games that are in the works for each system. Even though Nintendo is focusing more on its next console nowadays, the Wii U isn’t dead yet. Here are three hype-worthy upcoming Wii U games you won’t find on any other platform.
1. Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE
Release Date: June, 24 2016
Here are two game franchises that are big in Japan and gradually gaining mindshare in the U.S. Shin Megami Tensei is a series of role-playing games centered around going out to battle and collect demons — think of it like a mature version of Pokémon. Fire Emblem is a series of turn-based strategy games that pit small armies against each other on grid-based playing fields. Both sets of games are known for their appeal to hardcore gamers, because they get pretty complicated pretty quickly.
The developers of this upcoming crossover haven’t announced many details about what game will be, but it looks like a music game, of all things. In any case, you can expect Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem to get a lot of attention from die-hard RPG fans once more information is revealed.
2. Paper Mario: Color Splash
Release Date: 2016
The Paper Mario series of role-playing games has always been full of color and charm. Nintendo plans to bring those delightful qualities to Wii U with an all new installment of the franchise that focuses on (you guessed it) splashing colors. As always, the gameplay is 2D-meets-3D, with paper cut-out characters going on epic adventures. All the color is being drained from the world in this installment, so it’s up to Mario and company to use something called a paint hammer to bring it back.
3. The Legend of Zelda Wii U/NX
Release Date: 2017
Everyone loves a good Zelda game, so gamers were delighted when Nintendo announced an epic-sized new installment is in the works for Wii U and NX. The big new idea here as opposed to previous Zelda releases is that the game will take place in a giant 3D open world, kind of like Skyrim or Grand Theft Auto.
One thing’s for sure: the game looks fantastic so far. Watch the video above for an idea of how it plays, and then try to push it out of your mind until we get closer to launch.
