June 20 is the day that Facebook will unveil its a new product, which is being touted as a “big idea” coming from a small team, according to Engadget, which says that is all it knows about the mysterious launch, but alludes to a possible RSS reader, holding that such is only a rumor. The announcement/invitation is apparently being distributed by the postal service.

Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL): Closing price $430.00

The market research firm IDC says that in the first quarter of this year, Apple’s iPhone comprised almost 40 percent of all smartphone sales in Japan, while during the same period, Sony accounted for 13.3 percent. However, a BCN report released on the same day, said that in the past four weeks, a reversal in Sony’s fortunes has taken place, according to Bloomberg. BCN basically depends upon sales figures from over 2,000 retail outlets, and discovered that Sony smartphones represented some 36 percent of shipments in the past 30 days, while Apple’s share fell by 25 percent.  In the week that started May 6, BCN calculated Apple’s share of the Japanese market in excess of 40 percent, while Sony held a mere 14 percent of sales.

Vodafone Group (NASDAQ:VOD): Closing price $28.16

The United Kingdom mobile company Vodafone is thinking about hiking its offer for Kabel Deutschland, subsequent to an initial $9.6-billion bid being turning aside by Germany’s number-one operator, according to an inside source, who opined Friday that “The offer could come as soon as next week.” Meanwhile, Vodafone refused to comment, though it sent a letter last week to Kabel Deutschland announcing its interest and indicating a price of 81 euros per share, according to three sources to Reuters.

Yingli Green Energy Holding Co. (NYSE:YGE): Closing price $2.89

Yingli Energy China Co. has announced that it will no longer pay a dividend and also slow investments so as to clear debt after being faced with anti-dumping duties in Europe. The division of Yingli Green Energy Holding Co., which posted seven consecutive quarters of losses, has $34.4 million remaining on its combined credit line, the firm said Thursday in a statement placed on the website of the China Foreign Exchange Trade System. On June 5, the European Union imposed tariffs of 11.8 percent on panels originating in China for reportedly selling them in the 27-nation bloc under cost. The rate is set to increase to an average of 47.6 percent, if Chinese and EU officials not reach a consensus.
