Apple, Comcast, Gilead, ISRG Cheer Investors at New 52-Week Highs as Nasdaq Hits 11-Year High

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL): A German judge, responding to a patent lawsuit by Motorola Mobility (NYSE:MMI), has issued a permanent injunction against Apple’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) use of a push e-mail service in Germany, according to Foss Patents. As a result, Germans who have Apple mobile devices will likely have to check for their e-mails on those devices, instead of being informed automatically when they receive e-mails, said the publication, which explained that the ruling will be enforced upon a request from Motorola. The shares closed at $459.68, up $4.56 or 1% on the day. They have traded in a 52-week range of $310.50 to $458.99.

Comcast Corp. (NASDAQ:CMCSA): According to sources close to the matter, Viacom (NYSE:VIA) Chairman Sumner Redstone is expected to approve a subscription revenue agreement with Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN), and say the companies are putting “the final touches” on a deal, the New York Post reports. Viacom already has streaming agreements with Hulu (DIS, NWSA, CMCSA) and Netflix (NASDAQ:NFLX). The shares closed at $27.15, up $0.46 or 1.72% on the day. They have traded in a 52-week range of $19.19 to $27.17.

Gilead Sciences (NASDAQ:GILD): Deutsche Bank calls Gilead the best growth story in biotech following the company’s Q4 results and cites increased confidence in the company’s Hepatitis C virus program for its increased price target. The firm maintains a Buy rating on the stock. The shares closed at $54.69, up $5.38 or 10.91% on the day. They have traded in a 52-week range of $34.45 to $49.63.

Intuitive Surgical (NASDAQ:ISRG): A report from the Government Accountability Office said that some hospitals pay thousands of dollars more than others for big-ticket medical devices, and some of the higher costs could be passed on to the federal Medicare program, reported The Wall Street Journal. The shares closed at $492.01, up $9.01 or 1.87% on the day. They have traded in a 52-week range of $315.01 to $488.84.
