Apple: Get Ready for Free iPhones, We’re Taking Over the World

Apple’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) long-awaited new iPhone 4S made its debut on Tuesday. It will be available to consumers in the United States on Oct. 14.

Introduced at Apple’s invitation-only event at corporate headquarters, the new phone will sell for $199 . With its identical external design to the iPhone 4, it will feature A5, a faster, dual-core chip, an improved camera and new software. Its most noteworthy feature may be Siri, the phone’s voice-recognized personal assistant. Users can now ask the phone a question and receive an answer.

Also new for the phone and Apple is the inclusion of Sprint Nextel Inc. (NYSE:S) as an iPhone carrier.  It will join its competitors AT&T (NYSE:T) and Verizon (NYSE:VZ).

Lastly, the iPhone 3GS is the first ever free iPhone (with a new carrier subscription).
