Apple Inc. Stock a Top Analyst Pick Ahead of Earnings, Polycom Price Target Lifted

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL): Piper Jaffray reiterates shares of Apple as its top pick heading into tonight’s December quarter results, despite what the firm calls as high unpublished expectations for the quarter. Piper believes the Street’s unpublished expectations for the quarter call for 34M iPhones, 13M iPads, and 4.8M Macs. The firm keeps an Overweight rating on the stock with a $607 price target.

International Paper Co. (NYSE:IP): Deutsche Bank says the Department of Justice review period on International Paper’s (NYSE:IP) proposed acquisition of Temple-Inland (NYSE:TIN) will end this Friday. Given the lengthy review period, Deutsche finds it likely that IP will be forced to divest some of assets in order for the deal to be approved. The firm thinks an agreement is more likely to be announced than another extension of the review period.

Polycom, Inc. (NASDAQ:PLCM): Stifel Nicolaus increased its target on Polycom after the company reported better than expected Q4 results. The firm believes that the company is moving in the right direction in many areas and maintains a Buy rating.

Achillion Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ:ACHN): Piper Jaffray views the recent pullback in shares of Achillion as providing an attractive entry point into the name. The firm continues to believe Achillion is a likely takeover target in the Hepatitis C virus space and reiterates an Overweight rating on the stock with a $17 price target.

Volterra Semiconductor Corporation (NASDAQ:VLTR): Needham raised its price target for Volterra following the company’s Q4 results and keeps a Buy rating on the stock.
