Here’s How Early Apple Stores Will Open on Black Friday

Many of Apple’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) retail stores will be opening as early as 6:00 am on Black Friday, the traditional start to the holiday shopping season. However, shoppers hoping to get an early start on their Apple holiday shopping should first check the listed hours for their local Apple Store on Apple’s Retail Store List page, since opening times vary by location.

Some Apple Stores will still be opening at their regular times — at 7:00 am or 8:00 am. For example, Apple’s Royal Hawaiian location in Honolulu will open at 8:00 am on Black Friday, instead of the usual time at 10:00 am. On the other hand, the iconic Apple Store on New York City’s Fifth Avenue will remain open for 24 hours on Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday, as it does every day of the year.

Apple was originally planning on having many Apple Stores stay open on Thanksgiving Day in order to get a head start on the Black Friday shopping rush. As reported by ifoAppleStore, Apple’s retail market directors were pushing to keep stores open during the holiday so they could qualify for larger quarterly bonuses. However, CEO Tim Cook decided to cancel the additional store openings so more employees could spend time with their families.

As noted by MacRumors, Apple has offered special discounts on iPads, iPods, and MacBooks during Black Friday in previous years. The California-based company is widely expected to offer similar product discounts this year. Apple’s retail stores tend to rack up most of their sales during the holiday shopping season, especially after new product releases. Apple most recently launched the 7.9-inch iPad mini with Retina display on November 12.

Market research firm IHS iSuppli has predicted that the “supply of the new mini is going to be ridiculously tight in the fourth quarter” due to production constraints related to the iPad mini’s Retina display. However, Cantor Fitzgerald analyst Brian White recently observed that several New York City Apple Store locations were starting to receive shipments of the iPad mini with Retina display. As reported by Barron’s, White believes those shipments are “an early indicator that other stores around the country (and world) will start to receive shipments over the next week.”
