Here’s the Latest Market to Get the iPad Mini
Although Apple’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPad mini has been available in the North American market since its debut in November last year, other countries have still not yet received the device for sale in their stores. However, Brazil will soon become the latest country to have the iPad mini released for sale.
MacWorldBrasil reports that several Brazilian retailers recently posted news of the upcoming release on their websites. According to MacWorldBrasil, the iPad mini will begin to go on sale in Brazil on Tuesday, June 25.
Although the launch date for the iPad mini in Brazil is known, it remains to be seen what price the tablet will sell for in this market. The iPad mini retailed for $329 in the North American market, but Apple has previously adjusted its pricing on certain products based on what a particular market will bear. Earlier this year, Apple discounted the prices on its iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S by 25 percent in Brazil reports Apple Insider.
Apple already has a strong Brazilian connection through one of its major suppliers. Hon Hai Precision Industry, also known as Foxconn, has multiple production facilities in China and Brazil according to Apple’s supplier report.
Apple has also previously had trademark issues in Brazil. Apple was in danger of losing the rights to the iPhone trademark in Brazil after a copyright regulator ruled against it in favor of IGB Electronica. However, both companies withdrew their lawsuits after IGB expressed interest in selling the trademark to Apple.
Here’s how Apple closed out on Friday.
