Yet another leaked image that allegedly shows a part for Apple’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) upcoming iPad 5 has emerged online. The latest photo comes courtesy of the Australian website Macfixit via MacRumors. Macfixit reports, “So it looks like we’ve got a preview of the replacement screen for the iPad 5 which is not even out yet!”
According to Macfixit, the “iPad 5 Screen/Digitizer” was obtained from one of its suppliers. Although it is impossible to verify if this is a genuine part, the screen does appear to feature narrower side bezels similar to what was seen in other unverified leaks.
Macfixit also notes that the iPad 5 screen has two connectors instead of one like in the previous model. Rather than being made of Flat Flexible Cable, the new connectors use Flexible Printed Circuits, similar to what are used in the iPhone 4 and iPhone 5.
The French website Nowhereelse.fr posted last month what it purported to be schematics for the upcoming iPad 5. Those schematics depicted an iPad that copied design elements of the iPad mini, including a thinner profile and more rounded rear casing.
Many analysts are expecting Apple to unveil its next-generation iPad as soon as next month. KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo previously said that the iPad 5 would be approximately 15 percent thinner and 25-33 percent lighter than the previous generation of iPad, reports MacRumors.
