Yet another leaked photo purporting to show one of Apple’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) upcoming iPhone models has emerged online. The latest leak comes courtesy of a “mysterious correspondent” who sent the image to French website Nowhereelse.fr and also posted the image on the Chinese-language website iapps.im.
The image appears to show multiple pink iPhone 5Cs in the same white plastic packaging shown in a previous leak. Each iPhone’s display also features a pink wallpaper background that matches the exterior pink plastic shell.
Although Steve Hemmerstoffer at Nowhereelse.fr believes that the low-quality image is genuine, he also thinks that the iPhones depicted in the image might be fakes. In other words, the image doesn’t appear to be altered, but the devices themselves may be “common Chinese copies.”
It should also be noted that pink iPhone 5Cs have not been seen in previous leaks. On the other hand, the poor quality of the photograph may be distorting the actual color of the device. Previous leaks have shown iPhone 5C casings in white, red, green, blue, and yellow.
Apple is widely rumored to be unveiling its latest iPhone iterations at a September 10 media event. Based on iPhone launches from previous years, many commentators expect the devices to hit store shelves by September 20. Several major iPhone carriers have also reportedly planned employee blackout dates around this time.
The plastic iPhone 5C will presumably be a lower-price alternative to Apple’s typical flagship upgrade. Some analysts predict that this lower-cost iPhone will help Apple expand its presence in emerging markets like China.
