New Apple TV Speculation, Delta’s PRASM Improves, and 3 More Hot Stocks

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL): Global trade intelligence firm Panjiva has pointed out that Apple received large set-top shipments from Chinese contract manufacturer BYD Precision last month, indicating that there might be a new Apple TV set-top unveiled at the iPhone event on Tuesday. Other speculation and observations have also pointed to Apple’s sooner-rather-than-later Apple TV replacement, though the company has remained mute on the subject.


Delta Airlines (NYSE:DAL): Delta reported that consolidated passenger unit revenue (or PRASM) rose 4 percent year over year in August on broad gains in efficiency. A sliding yen made Pacific routes a rough patch for the carrier, which estimates its fuel costs will fall around $3.05-$3.10 per gallon for September.

Micron (NASDAQ:MU): An enormous fire at an SK Hynix production facility in Wuxi, China, has driven shares of Micron higher, and it will likely result in NAND and DRAM shortages just as the peak pre-holiday production period is gearing up. DRAM pricing may be be less susceptible to fluctuations, though, since the company recently prioritized NAND flash over DRAM for the facility.


Proctor & Gamble (NYSE:PG): In efforts to compete with more value-oriented detergent brands, P&G is contemplating the release of a more affordable laundry detergent to fill the niche below its trademark Tide brand. Previous conversations had been shut down since the strategy was considered “too dangerous”; the company is sensitive to the fact that the new product could lure loyal buyers away from the more expensive Tide varieties.
