On Monday, Apple released a new beta version of its iOS7 software to developers, which has analysts wondering if the next iPhone will contain a fingerprint sensor. According to 9to5Mac, there is a folder in the beta version of the software known as a “Biometric Kit,” with a string of code saying “A fingerprint that changes color during the setup process.” The Biometric Kit folder has led several observers to speculate that the new smartphone, iPhone 5S, might indeed have a fingerprint sensor used as part of the home button.

The mailing equipment and software firm Pitney Bowes posted a loss in the second quarter on a number of charges, and announced that it will divest its North American management services business to Apollo Global Management at a price of $400 million. The company said Tuesday that it will concentrate on the parts of its business that generate the highest value for shareholders and clients. Shares were up by more than 12 percent in morning trading. Pitney Bowes said that the sale should close in the fourth quarter. During the second quarter, the firm took a $97.8 million goodwill impairment charge, linked with the management services division.
