4) S&P 500 VIX Short-Term Futures (NYSE:VXX): Not all is well for some investors as the recent sharp drop in the fear index flash signs of concern. The recent weekly drop is the second largest since inception suggesting a period of extreme volatility. The index is down 40% since the highs reached earlier this month from the Japan (NYSE:EWJ) scare.
