Samsung had a strong quarter for smartphone sales. The tech company owned market share of 23.8% versus Apple’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) 14.6%. Samsung took over the top spot with sales of approximately 28 million smartphones, whereas Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) sold 17 million.

Nokia (NYSE:NOK) landed third place with a market share of 14.4%. On an overall basis, however, Nokia (NYSE:NOK) is number one worldwide with a 27.3% share while Samsung is at second place with 22.6%.
