What Is Apple Bringing Fans on October 22?
Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) has managed to come through once again. Aligning with analysts’ expectations, industry sources reported Tuesday that the company will hold its next invitation-only event Tuesday, October 22, where many believe the tech giant will reveal its latest updates to the iPad line.
Analysts such as KGI’s Ming-Chi Kuo have forecasted that the Cupertino, California-based company will reveal its rumored iPad 5 and next-gen iPad mini at a launch event in October, and now those predictions have been largely corroborated as Apple prepares for the holiday shopping season and competes with the likes of new products from Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT), which only recently released its newest tablet, the Surface 2.
According to All Things D, in addition to the new rumored tablets, a new Mac Pro and OS X Mavericks may also get some face-time at the Apple event in just two weeks, but many expect the iPads to command the majority of the company’s attention.
It is still unclear where the event will be held come October 22, but All Things D offers expectations that it will not be hosted at the California Theatre in San Jose — even though that was the site of the iPad mini’s unveiling in 2012 — leaving Apple’s Town Hall Auditorium in Cupertino and the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco as the two likely locations.
Analysts, such as Kuo, expect the fifth-generation iPad to boast a thinner, lighter design with an 8 megapixel iSight camera that could replace the current 5 megapixel, and they also believe it will run on Apple’s new 64-bit A7 chip.
As for the rumored iPad mini, analysts believe that the device will include a new Retina display, and even a new TouchID fingerprint sensor which has proven to please iPhone 5S customers who were lucky enough to get their hands on the new device, though those rumors have remained unconfirmed.
For now, at least we know that an October event will definitely happen, and we’ll only have to wait two weeks until the latest Apple technology is finally revealed.
