Will IT Departments Embrace Macs?

Forrester Research believes its time for IT departments to embrace Apple’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) Mac instead of Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) based PCs by Dell (NASDAQ:DELL) and H-P (NYSE:HPQ).

In a recent Forrester Research’s market research report surveying 590 IT executives and decision makers, it reported that 41% of enterprises block all access to company resources for employee-owned Macs.

In earlier reports, the company found that IT departments had been reluctant to embrace the Apple product because Macs pose too many problems for them.

But would companies like to see more productive employees? Forrester wrote in its recent report that Mac users may provide this.

The company wrote in its new report, “Mac users are your HEROes and you should enable them not hinder them.”

HEROes is an acronym for Highly Empowered and Resourceful Operatives. The firm explains that “these 17% of information workers who use new technologies and find innovative ways to be more productive and serve customers more effectively”

In addition, the executives, sales reps, and workaholics bring their Macs to work, a demographic called “power laptop users”, ¬†make 44 percent more money, use additional collaboration apps, and carry at least three additional devices with them.

Wouldn’t you like to see more of these workers in your office?
