Facebook Goes Down and Twitter Reacts | See the Memes
Facebook was down for many users worldwide on Wednesday, which the social media giant attributed to network problems. All is well now, however, and users are back to happily scrolling through news feeds to catch up on the latest with friends. However, Twitter seemed to be having loads of fun with the outage.
Jokes ranged from users not knowing how to communicate in real life to Facebook users coming to Twitter, confused about how the different social media outlet works.

To make matters worse, social media network Instagram went down too as a result of the outage. Instagram’s disruption wasn’t as widespread as that of Facebook, however.
Facebook was reportedly down from soon after 11 a.m. EST until soon after 2:30 p.m. EST. “We’re aware that some people are currently having trouble,” a Facebook spokesperson said in a statement. “We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible.”
Just how many people use Facebook on a daily basis? Digital marketing company Zephoria provided the answer to this question and then some: There were 1.32 billion active users who logged on daily in June 2017. The most common age demographic is 25 to 34, which represents 29.7% of users. Seventy-six percent of all females and 66% of all males use Facebook. Highest traffic occurs mid-week 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. (which was when Wednesday’s outage occurred). On Thursdays and Fridays, engagement is 18% higher on the social network.
The average time spent per visit is 20 minutes. Around 300 million photos are uploaded per day. Every, 60 seconds, around 510,000 comments are posted, 293,000 statuses are updated, and 136,000 photos are uploaded.
