Groupon Acq-hires Breadcrumb for Apple’s iPad App
Daily deals company Groupon (NASDAQ:GRPN) is reported to have acquired Breadcrumb, a company developing a point-of-sale application for Apple’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPad, for a price between $10 and $15 million.

Breadcrumb was founded only last year and is said to have less than 10 employees. Its team, including founder and CEO Seth Harris, will be joining Groupon, and their product will soon be made available to its current merchant partners. Breadcrumb will continue to serve existing clients as well as new ones.
Mihir Shah, VP of mobile for Groupon, drew attention to Harris’s experience in the hospitality industry, saying he was “uniquely empathetic to the tight budgets and unique needs of business owners in the food and beverage industry, who often struggle to find technology products that will work perfectly for them.”
Breadcrumb is another in Groupon’s recent string of acquisitions, and seeks to plug its lack of an iPad point-of-sale solution.
