In a minute-long television spot aired during NFL season-opener between the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Giants, Amazon gave away brief glimpses of a new Kindle e-reader with a “Paperwhite” display and a larger Kindle Fire tablet presumable the size of the Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPad.
Last week, Amazon announced that it was sold out of the Kindle Fire tablet, with chief executive Jeff Bezos insisting that they had “an exciting roadmap ahead.”
The original Kindle Fire, launched nine months ago, became one of the world’s best-selling tablets. The tablet uses a forked version of Google’s Android platform and is centered on consumption of media content, including books, music, and video services sold by Amazon.com. The next version of the Fire is expected to feature a faster processor and a front-facing camera.
