T-Mobile Pounds a Punch on AT&T and Apple
T-Mobile is getting creative in trying to portray itself as the fastest data provider, and it’s pulling Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) into it. The wireless carrier that is the only one of the four major providers in the country to not have an iPhone deal has launched an advertisement (see below) that supposedly depicts the difference in data speeds between the iPhone 4S on AT&T (NYSE:T) and Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) Android devices on its own 4G network.

As part of its new “Alter Ego” ad campaign, the network shows its T-Mobile Girl whizzing past a biker trudging along a highway. The carrier did a similar comparison when launching its Test Drive tool for comparing its 4G devices with the iPhone on other networks.
Apple is believed to be launching its next-generation iPhone later this year with 4G capabilities to match 4G-enabled Android devices, with chip-maker Qualcomm (NASDAQ:QCOM) recently reporting a struggle in meeting demand for LTE chips.
T-Mobile, whose takeover by AT&T was rejected by the government last year, is also preparing to ready an iPhone-compatible 4G HSPA+ 19000 MHz network by the end of the year. iPhone owners who choose to switch to T-Mobile once their two-year contract with AT&T ends have until now only been able to access 2G on the carrier’s data network.
